Enugu State Unveils $100,000 Campus Hackathon to Drive Grassroots Deep Tech Innovation and Build Africa’s Next Billion-Dollar Startups
The Enugu State Government, under the visionary leadership of Governor Dr. Peter Mbah, has officially launched the Enugu Campus Hackathon 2025 — a groundbreaking, state-backed innovation challenge with a prize pool exceeding $100,000. The initiative is designed to unleash the next generation of African tech founders and position Enugu as a leading hub for grassroots-driven deep tech solutions.
The hackathon is open to students, alumni, and youths from six top universities across Enugu State. With a strong emphasis on cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, GovTech, and more, the programme aims to foster transformative ideas that can scale beyond the region.
In addition to the competition itself, participants will benefit from post-hackathon incubation and global mentorship opportunities, providing a direct pipeline to the upcoming Enugu Tech & Innovation Hub — a project inspired by the renowned Norrsken Concept.
“This is not just a competition — it’s a movement to build Africa’s next billion-dollar startups from the grassroots,” said a spokesperson for the state government.
