Prof Nnamchi Strengthens APC in Enugu Hon. Professor Paul Sunday Nnamchi, representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has initiated efforts to bolster the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the constituency.  This follows recent leadership harmonization meetings he held with APC and Labour Party (LP) officials from the constituency. The meetings were hosted separately for wards and local government’s leaders of both parties from Enugu East and Isi Uzo Local Government Areas at his residence in Enugu. We Stand by Our Tariff Order, Didn’t Tamper with Generation Costs, Says EERC

...Insists no justification to keep Band A at N209/kWh in Enugu State The Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission, EERC, has clarified that its recent order that led to reduction of electricity tariff for Band A from N209/kWh (per kiloWatt) to N160 kwh, did not tamper with the prevailing cost of power generation in the country in any way. The Commission maintained that based on MainPower's costs, there was no justification to keep the price of electricity for Band A at N209 per kWh in the tate. EERC made the clarification following concerns raised by some sections of the power sector stakeholders, including the generation companies (GenCos), to the new tariff order that was issued by the Commission to MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited, the subsidiary of EEDC for electricity distribution in the state.  The tariff order led to the reduction of the tariff for Band A customers to N160 kWh, and the freezing of the tariffs for the other bands effective from Aug...

Enugu State Waste Management Authority Begins Legal Action Against Waste Fee Defaulters

The Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA) has commenced the issuance of court summons to property owners and occupants across the state who have failed to pay their waste management fees for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025. In an official statement released by the Head of Public Relations, Mr. Joshua Ozioko, the agency announced that defaulters whose properties have been marked with a court summons are mandated to appear before the Environmental Protection Court, which sits at the New Magistrate Court Complex, State Secretariat, Enugu, on the specified date. ESWAMA further warned that failure to honour the court summons constitutes an offence punishable by imprisonment or a fine, stressing that enforcement measures will be strictly implemented.
