‘You’re victors’, Mbah tells Enugu people after Supreme Court judgement

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has dedicated his victory at the Supreme Court which upheld his election to the residents of the state, saying they are the victors of the judicial challenges he endured. Mbah made this known during a media briefing shortly after the apex court in a unanimous decision by a five-man panel of Justices affirmed his victory on Friday. The highest court dismissed an appeal that the Labour Party, LP, and its candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, filed to challenge the outcome of the governorship election held in the state on March 18. Reacting to the ruling, the governor said, the judicial journey has been a massive investment to the people emotionally, physically and spiritually. ENUGU STATE POLICE COMMAND AVOWS TO DEAL RUTHLESSLY WITH UNREPENTANT CRIMINALS

CP Kanayo  The Enugu State Police Command under the tactical leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), vows to brutally deal with impenitent criminals who engage in criminal activities in the state. Christmas Returnees: Enugu Gov. Consents To Free Transportation For Indigenes

The Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Obi Ozor, says indigenes of Enugu state residing in other parts of Nigeria, who intend to return home to celebrate the festive season with their loved ones will enjoy free transportation.  Ozor who announced this during a news conference in Enugu, explained that the scheme was made easy by the approval of the Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah. Governor Mbah assures eradication of maternal, newborn mortality in Enugu State

  Enugu State governor, Dr Peter Mbah has expressed displeasure with the high rate of maternal and newborn mortality in the country, saying his administration will take a radical approach to eradicate the ugly trend in the state. The governor, who frowned at the national statistics of 522 maternal mortality per 100,000 births, and over 216  newborn mortality per 1,000 infant births, said the figures were unacceptable, stressing that strategic programmes must be put in place for the eradication through collective efforts.   An Enugu State lawmaker, Nelson Sylvester has been shot dead by suspected assassins. Mr. Sylvester who’s popularly known as Ofunwa, represented Eha-Ulo ward, in Nsukka Local Government Area Legislative Council, until his death. He was killed  by gunmen on Sunday night at his residence in Eha-Alumonah.
