…As Mbah charges party faithful on good governance The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, South East has elected a new zonal executive to man the affairs of the party in the region, with Chief Ali Odefa remerging as the Zonal Chairman. The election, which took place during the zonal congress of the party at the Michael Okpara Square in Enugu on Wednesday also saw the emergence of Hon. James Ugwu as the Zonal Secretary, Mrs. Regina Uchebo as Zonal Treasurer, Hon. Cornelius Okey Ugwu as Zonal Organising Secretary, while Madubuike Okoro, Engr. Chigozie Igwe, Barr. ENUGU STATE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION ISSUES DIRECTIVE ON WAEC REGISTRATION

The Enugu State Ministry of Education has released a public service announcement outlining the payment procedure for the 2024-2025 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) registration. According to the directive, all schools cleared by the Ministry of Education are required to pay the WAEC registration fees on or before Monday, February 24, 2025. Late payment may result in sanctions against the affected schools. To facilitate a seamless registration process, the Ministry has provided the following payment guidelines: 1. Reps Wade Into Sharp Practices In Payment Of Contractors

  Reprieve may soon come the way of Federal Government contractors as the House of Representatives has waded into the alleged sharp practices in the payment of contractors by the Ministry of Finance and Accountant General Office of the Federation. The House in response to the Motion titled; “Alleged Fraudulent Practices in the Payment of Contractors by the Offices of the Ministry of Finance and Accountant General of the Federation cosponsored by Hon. Professor Paul Sunday  Nnamchi, House Leader, Hon Professor Julius Ihonvbere and Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji directed the Committee on Finance to investigate the allegations. ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT APPROVES PAYMENT OF GRATUITIES TO RETIREES, ANNOUNCES VERIFICATION EXERCISE

In a significant move to address the long-standing issue of outstanding entitlements, the Enugu State Government has approved the payment of gratuities to retirees in the state. To ensure a seamless and transparent process, a verification exercise will precede the payments, commencing on February 24, 2025. According to a signed statement issued by the Enugu State Government, through the Secretary to the state Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the verification exercise is designed to update and validate the records of retirees and next of kin, ensure that only legitimate beneficiaries receive their gratuity and related payments, eliminate fraud and discrepancies, and create a reliable database. The verification exercise will be conducted in phases to ensure efficiency and avoid overcrowding.
