Ex-Deputy Sheriff Calls on Tinubu to Create State Police and Forest Guards

Nigerian-born security professional and retired Deputy Sheriff, Dr. John Egbo, has called on President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to urgently reform Nigeria’s internal security framework. In an open letter released at the close of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, Dr. Egbo stressed that Nigeria must act decisively to counter the growing threats of terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and communal unrest. According to him, despite significant investments in counterterrorism and border patrol operations, Nigeria’s porous borders, overstretched federal police, and unmonitored forests continue to expose the nation to grave risks.
