Enugu State Commissioner of Police Undertakes Familiarization Tour of Agbani Area Command



In a continued effort to strengthen community policing and deepen security cooperation at the grassroots, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, on Tuesday, 23rd July 2025, embarked on a familiarization tour of the Agbani Area Command.

The visit was well attended by key stakeholders, including the Local Government Chairmen of Awgu, Aninri, and Enugu West, as well as the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, traditional rulers from the area, men and officers of the Agbani Area Command, representatives of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), and other community leaders.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Okolo expressed profound appreciation for the proactive steps taken by the Enugu State Government under the leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to prioritise the safety of lives and property across the state. He noted that the administration’s massive investment in security infrastructure and community partnership has significantly enhanced Enugu’s reputation as the safest state in Nigeria.

Hon. Okolo further commended CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa for his exemplary leadership style, describing him as a people-friendly, security-conscious officer whose approach has continued to foster trust and cooperation between the police and the citizens.

He assured the Commissioner of Police of the unwavering support of the good people of Awgu and the entire Agbani Division, pledging to continue working closely with the police and other security agencies to maintain peace, law, and order in the area.

The familiarization tour provided an opportunity for stakeholders to interact directly with the Commissioner, share security concerns, and reinforce partnerships that will enhance intelligence gathering, community vigilance, and effective policing at the grassroots.

The Commissioner, in his remarks, thanked the stakeholders for their warm reception and reiterated his commitment to building on existing security frameworks to ensure Enugu remains a model for safety and community-oriented policing in Nigeria.
