ENSUBEB CELEBRATES CHILDREN'S DAY, HAILS GOVERNOR MBAH'S EDUCATION INITIATIVES AS CATALYST FOR BUILDING HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT
The Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) has extended warm greetings to children, pupils, and students in Enugu State on the occasion of Children's Day. In a heartfelt message, Assoc Prof Hyginus Banko Okibe, Executive Chairman of ENSUBEB, emphasized the importance of education in building human capital development and nation-building.
"We say Happy Children's Day to our children, pupils, and students in Enugu State. Today, the 27th of May (as always), is another historic moment when the world, in unity of purpose, celebrates our children," Assoc Prof Okibe stated.
According to him, "It is a day set aside to look at our children in the face (the young shall grow generation) and ponder over many challenges that affect their growth process, health conditions, education to become better children, and how we are providing them an enabling environment to attain their goals in life."
Assoc Prof Okibe further emphasized that "Education is the catalyst for building human capital development and no nation can grow beyond the level of investment it makes for the succeeding generation. Education is the most treasured succession plan that does not fail to make positive changes and impact society in significant ways."
He posed a rhetorical question, "The question is, are we doing enough to make the mustard seed germinate and grow into a big tree that can provide shade tomorrow? The root of the answer to this question lies in what we do and how we do them, the impact of our actions, and the consequences of failure to plan for the future. This is where we critique what the government does to make the mustard seed grow and serve future needs."
The ENSUBEB Executive Chairman commended Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's prioritization of education, citing the allocation of 33.3% of the State's Annual Budget for education and initiatives such as the Smart Green School Project."In the present-day Enugu state, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has prioritized education for the new world order, where there is no disparity in access to talent discovery, where skills are developed to open equal opportunities to the global economy, and where there is no barrier to achieving greatness in life," Assoc Prof Okibe stated.
He also highlighted the impact of the Smart Green School Project, saying, "The Smart Green School Project has become a game changer and the most sought-after resource in Enugu state. It is equipped with world-class facilities to give our children a comprehensive education that guarantees their future."
Assoc Prof Okibe urged children to take advantage of this opportunity, develop themselves, and resist the temptation of get-rich-quick syndrome.
"As we celebrate the children and as they mark their day, it is an opportunity for every child to begin to think about how to benefit from the smart education in the state and bear good fruits so that people can testify and appreciate the visions of Governor Mbah," he stated.
The Executive Chairman of ENSUBEB concluded by reaffirming the Board's commitment to supporting children in acquiring the right education and becoming good citizens.
"ENSUBEB is happy to be a part of your celebration and will continue to support you to acquire the right education and become good citizens that the Enugu state, Nigeria, Africa, and the world will be proud of," Assoc Prof Okibe said.
CONGRATULATIONS
Signed:
Assoc Prof Hyginus Banko Okibe
Executive Chairman, ENSUBEB
