Agro Revamp:Enugu State Farmers Associations Forum Calls on Dr. Peter Mbah to come to the aid of farmers

At the Flagging off of the distribution of Tractors and Fertilizers in Maiduguri on Tuesday, Gov. Zulum said the fertilizers would be sold to the farmers at 25 per cent rebate, while those to be given tractors on loan would pay 50 per cent of the market cost.

The Governor explained that each of the 312 political wards in the state would be given one tractor each and 100 bags of fertilizer to encourage mechanized farming for bumper harvest.

He also revealed that every local government council would be given five tractors to undertake cultivation for free to farmers who were willing to buy diesel only.

This is exactly what farmers in Enugu State  have been calling on the Governor to do in Enugu State.

It is evident that in march 2021 ,Southfield Agro in association with Enugu Farmers forum and Ministry of Agriculture hosted the first Enugu youth farmers forum in the state. In attendance was an agro equipment company Vince Tudo  Brazil being represented by Mr. Luiz Henrique who was in Enugu to attend the event and to extend hands of partnership with the Enugu State government in the development of Agriculture in the state.

However ,the past government of enugu state paid little or no attention to the needs of farmers in the state and all efforts made by Enugu Farmers Associations Forum led by Hon. Giovanni Madubuaku and Engr Emma Ugwuanyi was marred by the attitude of the leaders of the past administration.

Enugu Youth farmers have made self efforts in positively assisting its members and other farmers in the rural areas through their continued training of farmers on modern Agriculture techs and trends. This they were

able to achieve through partnership with the Enugu State Agricultural Development Program (ENADEP). DR. Ogbonna Onyeisi has always shown interest in development and support of farmers in Enugu State.

We the members of Enugu farmers Associations forum are calling on  the Governor, Dr. Ndubuisi Mbah to come fast to the aid of farmers in the state,by replicating what Governor Zulum has done in Bornu State.

If we can have tractors in all the political wards in Enugu state and if our youths are trained on how to repair ,maintain and operate the tractors ,it will give boost to the economy of the state.
