MGBOWO DIASPORA COMMUNITY CONVENES HISTORIC REUNION, REAFFIRMING COMMITMENT TO UNITY AND PROGRESS

 


In a landmark gathering, the Mgbowo diaspora community in the United States and Canada convened a historic meeting on Saturday, March 29, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the community's journey. This momentous occasion, facilitated by the innovative use of Zoom technology, brought together individuals from diverse locations, transcending geographical boundaries and time zones.




The meeting, expertly convened and coordinated by Chief Charles Afam Agwu, Akuluono II, was the culmination of efforts to revive the dormant Mgbowo Association. This development underscores the community's unwavering commitment to their heritage and cultural preservation.




Igwe John Ibe, Ohabuenyi II of Mgbowo, played a pivotal role in catalyzing this reunion, having visited the United States in 2024. During his visit, Igwe John Ibe emphasized the importance of peace, harmony, and unity among the community, poignantly reminding attendees that "united we stand; divided we fall." This clarion call resonated deeply with the attendees, who recognized the imperative of unity in the face of adversity.




The meeting was distinguished by the attendance of a diverse group of prominent individuals, fondly referred to as "The Patriots." These dedicated individuals, who responded to the call for unity despite time differences and geographical locations, included:

Furthermore, in a remarkable display of solidarity, the two Royal Fathers of Ndi Mgbowo, Igwe John Ibe of Ekpulambo and Igwe Ituma of Ekpulato, along with their respective Traditional Prime Ministers, Ndi Nze Mgbowo, notable Chiefs, President Generals of the two autonomous communities, and Mgbowo elders, converged at the palace of Igwe John Ibe. This unprecedented gathering reaffirmed the community's commitment to unity and progress.




As the Mgbowo diaspora community continues to forge ahead, united in their pursuit of progress and preservation of their heritage, they remain a shining example of the transformative power of unity and collective action. The community's reaffirmed commitment to unity serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Mgbowo people.

Final Journey of a Distinguished Scholar and Knight: Community Bids Farewell to Nze Sir Prof. Anthony Okechukwu Akpa, KSM

The people of Mgbowo community and the wider academic, religious, and traditional institutions gathered in solemn unity to pay their final respects to Nze Sir Prof. Anthony Okechukwu Akpa, KSM, whose remarkable life of scholarship, service, and faith left an indelible mark on all who knew him. The burial rites began with a lying-in-state at his mother’s village, Eziobodo Alechara Mgbowo, then proceeded to his father’s compound at Imeama Mgbowo, and finally to his residence at Old Eke Mgbowo Market, Imeama Mgbowo, where friends, family, and associates gathered to view his remains and bid him farewell.
