Enugu State Champions Digital Economy and E-Governance: A Landmark Stakeholders' Engagement for Nigeria's Digital Future
Enugu State recently hosted a pivotal regional stakeholders' engagement on the draft National Digital Economy and E-Governance Bill, underscoring its commitment to fostering innovation and digital growth. Organized by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, the session brought together policymakers, technology experts, entrepreneurs, academia, and civil society groups to review and provide input into the bill.
Mr. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, Special Adviser to the Governor on MSMEs and Digital Economy and Director-General of the Enugu SME Center, alongside the Honorable Commissioner for Science and Technology, led Enugu State's participation at the engagement. Their presence highlighted the State's dedication to enhancing digital service delivery and promoting a future-ready economy.
According to Mr. Chilo-Offiah, Enugu State has made strategic investments in broadband infrastructure, digital skills training, MSME empowerment, and the operationalization of state-wide e-governance platforms. These initiatives align with the broader national vision of a digitally inclusive, transparent, and innovation-driven Nigeria.
The stakeholders' engagement focused on key areas, including expanding digital infrastructure, strengthening cybersecurity, enhancing data privacy, promoting efficient digital government services, and unlocking opportunities for startups and MSMEs within the digital economy.
Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's vision to position Enugu as a regional leader in technology, innovation, and governance drives the State's active participation in shaping the nation's digital future.
