BREAKING: Enugu state's Health Commissioner Dies.

While Nigeria is battling with the global pandemic, Coronavirus (COVID-19) which has claimed thousands of lives worldwide, reports emerging at this time has confirmed the death of Health Commissioner for Enugu State, Prof. Anthony Ugochukwu.







The sad news broke the internet after Honourable, Hon. Jeff Mbah, Member of House of Representatives who represent Oji River State Constituency in the state Assembly announced that the renowned professor and surgeon has died in the late hour of Friday, April 3 at a Memphys Hospital in Enugu.



“Anthony is a great loss to both Enugu state and Nigeria,” says Mbah who described deceased as a Genius and a Technocrat.



He added, “We are talking about a renowned Professor of Surgeon who has a lot to offer in turning around our health sector. Its a terrible blow.”





Speaking further about the death of the Surgeon, Mba noted that he has just returned from the United States and was hale and hearty before the sudden sad story.



“Professor Anthony Ugochukwu has been sick from his days as Provost College of Medicine,” said Mba.



“He later recovered and concluded his work in the College. However, shortly after he was appointed commissioner last year, the sickness returned, this time more severe.”



He added, “All these while with the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic, the commissioner has been out of circulation.





“His duties were being carried out by the permanent secretary in the ministry of health, Dr Ifeanyi Agujiobi.”
