The people of Enugu West Senatorial Zone—comprising Aninri, Awgu, Oji River, Udi, and Ezeagu Local Government Areas—have unanimously endorsed Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to seek a second term as Governor of Enugu State in 2027. This endorsement was declared during the second zonal meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), held on Saturday, June 22, 2025, at the Awgu Council Headquarters.

The PDP Zonal Chairman, Hon. Ernest Nweze, cited the governor’s “marvelous performance” since taking office two years ago as the reason for the endorsement. “Enugu West came first in the last election, and come 2027, we will redouble our votes for His Excellency, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah,” Hon. Nweze affirmed.

Senator Osita Ngwu, the Senator representing Enugu West and Senate Minority Whip, threw his weight behind the endorsement. Represented by his Chief of Staff, Chief Emeka Aneke, Senator Ngwu promised to mobilize the zone with the mandate given to him by his constituents to ensure Governor Mbah’s return in 2027. “The battle for 2027 has already begun. Let us close ranks and work together as one strong political family. With the endorsement of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah, our winning momentum has already started,” he said.

Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, Member representing Aninri, Awgu, and Oji River Federal Constituency, commended the synergy between National Assembly members and the Mbah-led administration. Represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Boniface Chukwudi, Hon. Onwuegbu emphasized that their collective efforts are in full support of the governor’s development agenda. He highlighted the crucial role women play in determining electoral outcomes and called on PDP members to remain united and avoid internal divisions.

The motion for the formal endorsement was moved by Hon. Okoroma Magnus Nwabuisi from Aninri Local Government Area and seconded by Dr. Nnamdi Boniface from Awgu Local Government Area.

Key dignitaries in attendance included the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu; the Mayor of Awgu, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo; the Mayor of Oji-River, Hon. Greg Chijioke Anyaegbudike; Hon. Magnus Edeh, representing Aninri LG Constituency in ENHA; the MD/CEO of Toscana Group of Companies, High Chief Francis Nwobi; the Zonal Secretary of the PDP, Chief Kenechukwu Ejimofor; Nze Chimaobi David from Ugwuoba; and Chief Uchenna Obute, the Onwa of Ojebe-Ogene.

The event showcased a strong expression of unity and shared purpose from party stakeholders and supporters, all committed to delivering a landslide victory for Governor Peter Mbah in 2027.
