The 2024 Annual August Meeting was officially launched in Enugu State by the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the wife of the governor of Enugu State, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah. The event, themed "Eliminating Abuse to Foster a Healthy Society," aims to unite women against all forms of abuse and promote community development.

Representing Senator Tinubu, the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, stressed the importance of eradicating abuse and fostering a healthy society through responsible dialogue and collective action.
Mrs. Mbah commended Senator Tinubu for her Renewed Hope Initiative, which has empowered women through education, agriculture, and economic empowerment programs. She also highlighted her own Custos Care Foundation, which has launched initiatives like the Mama Care Initiative to improve maternal and infant health in Enugu State.
The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) Enugu State, led by Lady Anthonia Chi chi Ogbu, played a key role in the event. Lady Ogbu reaffirmed the council's commitment to supporting women's empowerment and community development. She emphasized the need for synergy among women to address societal challenges and promote a healthy society.
The event featured calls to action against open defecation, distribution of grants to communities to provide water, and gifts to women to usher in the 2024 August Meeting across Enugu communities.
As a culturally symbolic event for women in Igboland, the August Meeting promotes community development, political participation, and social investment programs. This year's theme is a call to action against abuse in all forms, focusing on promoting a healthy society for all.
