GOV. PETER NDUBUISI MBAH'S INNOVATIVE SMART SCHOOL PROJECT

By Onyekachi C Ugwu JP

Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's ambitious K9 Smart School project, designed to be built across 260 wards in Enugu State is an initiative aimed at improving the quality of education, skills, and manpower development which are crucial for the overall development of the State. By focusing on smart education solutions, Dr. Mbah is taking a proactive approach to preparing the youth for the challenges of the future.

Investing in education and skill development not only benefits individuals but also contributes to the overall progress and prosperity of the state. It's essential to provide students with the tools and resources they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive and technology-driven world.

Enugu State in the thinking of the Governor has every reasons to equip her present and future generations with quality education which will leapfrog their leadership position in the South East. It is my belief that Dr. Mbah's K9 Smart School projects will yield positive results and set a precedent for similar initiatives in other regions. Education is the foundation of progress, and efforts to enhance it should be celebrated and supported.

Smart school education plays a critical role in manpower development by equipping students with the skills, knowledge, and mindset needed to thrive in the modern workforce. There is no overemphasising the place of Smart School education in any society.   This is simply because the benefits are all too numerous to be ignored.

In the area of technology Integration, Smart schools leverage technology to enhance the learning experience, providing students with exposure to digital tools, online resources, and educational software. This prepares them for a workforce where digital literacy and technological proficiency are increasingly important. In our ever dynamic world, where technology plays a leading role in societal development, Enugu State can ill-afford the luxury of complacency in ensuring that her citizens align with international best practice in education. This is why this novel idea by the administration is all too welcome and commendable.

Thinkers shape the dynamics that rule the world. They generate ideas, ways and means for solving problems. Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving are very important for any society.  Smart school education emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. These competencies are essential for addressing complex challenges in the workplace and driving innovation. Envisioning the equipping of Enugu children with this important skill goes to the heart of our conviction that the business unusual mantra of the administration is not just a mere phrase with no vibe but rather a preevaluated and well thought out plan for changing the narrative and reimagining the way government did its things.

It is not out of place to hold that the serious problem confronting Education in our nation is the stranglehold obsolete education curriculum has maintained in our drive for education. The curriculum in use currently has no room for functional education; that is, education that produces career-Ready Skills. Instructive enough is that Smart schools offer specialized programs and training in fields such as STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), coding, robotics, and other in-demand areas. By doing so, students are better prepared to pursue careers in high-growth industries.

It is germane to add that adaptability and lifelong learning are imperative and fundamental in the life of anyone. As opposed to the current educational curriculum in use today, smart school education fosters a mindset of adaptability and continuous learning. Dr  Mbah is his ingenious approach to governance understands that in rapidly evolving industries, the ability to learn new skills and adapt to change is crucial for career success. Thus, he has set out early enough to put Enugu State on the map of global education, prepare the citizen for challenges of tomorrow and unleash their latent abilities.

Entrepreneurship is the soul of business. Developed nations arrived where they are today through entrepreneurship. Curiously, Nigeria educational curriculum does not factor in training on Entrepreneurial studies. As an investment expert, and a man with a robust private sector background, Gov Mbah understands the import Entrepreneurial training. This is one of the drives fuelling his desire for smart school education in the state  Developing entrepreneurial mindset among students is one core area of Smart School programmes  Some smart school initiatives promote entrepreneurship and innovation, instilling an entrepreneurial mindset that lead to the creation of new businesses and job opportunities. One can just begin to imagine what the future of the state will be in the next few years.

By focusing on these areas, smart school education contributes to the development of a highly skilled, adaptable, and innovative workforce. As a result, graduates are better equipped to meet the demands of the labor market and contribute to economic growth and development. We must therefore commend this administration, under the inventive and disruptive leadership of Gov. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and stand steadfast with him in quality followership to see to the all round development he has envisioned for the state.

Indeed TOMORROW IS HERE.
