The Enugu State Police Command under the tactical leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), vows to brutally deal with impenitent criminals who engage in criminal activities in the state.
This resolve was contained in a statement through the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, (Anipr), on Tuesday, 19th December, 2023, following credible information that led to the rescue of four (4) kidnapped victims (three males and one female) in a forest at Agbogazi-Nike, Enugu East Local Government Area, by Police Operatives of Enugu State Command serving on Hawk Tactical Squad, barely one hour after their kidnap.
The statement captured that the kidnappers opened fire upon seeing the Operatives who skillfully neutralized one of them, forcing others to scamper off with fatal gunshot wounds. An AK-47 rifle having nineteen (19) rounds of live ammunition was recovered, however extensive manhunt operation is ongoing to haul out the fleeing suspects whether dead or alive.
CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), in commending the holistic efforts of the valiant Operatives of the Police Command, has implored citizens of the State to remain law-abiding, vigilant, supportive, and report anyone with gunshot wounds to the nearest Police Station, or call 08032003702, 08075380883, 08086671202, or 08098880172.
The statement likewise recalls that same Police Operatives, in collaboration with other security personnel, similarly rescued travelers alleged to have been kidnapped along Ette Road in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, en-route Abuja, on 13th December, 2023.
