President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Mr. Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following allegations reportedly leveled against him. Mr. Nnaji, who was appointed to the Federal Executive Council in August 2023, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the President on Tuesday. In the letter, he expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the nation and contribute to its technological advancement. He, however, claimed that his decision to step down was influenced by persistent acts of blackmail and political persecution targeted at him by opponents. “I have been a target of blackmail by political opponents,” Nnaji reportedly wrote, adding that resigning was a necessary step to protect his integrity and avoid distractions for the administration.
