Enugu Gov’t prohibits unapproved medical outreaches in the state over safety

In an effort to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the public, the Enugu State Government has announced the immediate ban on any form of unapproved medical outreaches by individuals and organisations in the state.  The Commissioner for Health, Prof. Ikechukwu Obi, who made this known in a press statement issued on Friday in Enugu, directed that individuals and organizations intending to engage in medical services, including other health outreaches, to apply and obtain permit from the ministry.  According to the statement, investigations revealed that some of the products used for medical outreaches were either expired or nearing their expiration date, adding that this had led to health complications of beneficiaries of such outreaches.  The government said it was also concerned about the qualifications of practitioners usually engaged for the job, saying any medical outreach in the state must be conducted by qualified professionals who could diagnose and presc...

ENSUBEB to partner Enugu Primary Healthcare Agency on immunisation campaign against measles

The Executive Chairman of Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), Prof. Hyginus Banko Okibe, has disclosed that the board is ready to partner with the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ENPHCDA) to ensure the success of the immunisation campaign against measles and other epidemic diseases in the state.  Prof. Okibe stated this on Thursday in Enugu when he received in audience, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Dr. Ifeyinwa Ani-Osheku, and other senior delegation from the health sector, who were on a courtesy visit to his office.  The chairman stressed that the partnership was essential as it would open doors for further discussions on relevant areas and other issues of collaboration such as data collection from schools for effective implementation of the immunization exercise in the state.
